Comments: This all metal bank was
made for the "Halifax Building Society" around 1930. The base
is numbered "#39434", it bears the patent number "168,828"
and "June 11.1921", the hole is for inserting bank notes.
It has slots for "Six Pence", "Three Pence", "Penny
or Half Crown" and "Shilling" coins with a
cumulative measure below each slot to show you how many of each coin
you have in the bank.
The "Halifax Permanent Benefit Building
and Investment Society" was formed in 1853, it merged with the
"Halifax Equitable Building Society" in 1928 to become the
