Comments:  This bright red book tin features "Dick Whittington" walking with his cat back to London, five miles away. The spine of the book says at the bottom "Chad Valley. Harborne. Made in England. No. 10025". The tin has a lock to keep the contents secure, but there is no key; normally any simple key will work the lock.
Richard Whittington's life is the basis of this British pantomime character. A poor young boy goes to London to make his fortune, he has little success and on leaving hears the Bow Bells ringing while climbing up Highgate Hill. He believes this to be a sign to return to London, after which he sets off on a series of adventures with his cat. He becomes prosperous, marries Alice Fitzwarren and subsequently becomes the Lord Mayor of London three times.
