Comments: A nice early litho
printed American tin produced by "Somers Bros" and patented
1879. The "Somers" started in Brooklyn in 1869 making metal
tags and they patented their lithography tin printing process in
1879.
The image on the hinged lid illustrates the children's rhyme:
| This little piggy went to
market. |
| This little piggy stayed home.
|
| This little piggy had roast
beef. |
| This little piggy had none.
|
This little piggy cried “Wee!
Wee! Wee!” all the way home.
It normally accompanies the playful pulling of a young child's
toes, not their hand!
