Comments: This is the first
version in the series of three "Huntley and Palmer" biscuit
tins that were produced by "Huntley, Boorne and Stevens". This example was called "Ivory"
, it was made in 1899 and only 30,000 tins were manufactured. The
later versions were called "Floral" in 1900
and "Mosaic" in 1901, of which 40,000 copies of each one were
produced. This tin is an unusual variation as it has two patent
closures, one on each end to keep the tin closed.
This embossed casket was made to look like carved ivory and it is
illustrated with historically important scenes from the reign of
Queen Elizabeth I.
