Comments: This very early
biscuit tin dates from 1875, making it one of the earliest printed
biscuit tins produced. The first printed tin was produced in 1868
and is known as the "Ben George". In the same year "H & P"
became biscuit suppliers to Queen Victoria's Royal Household and
this tin bears her Royal Coat of Arms.
"H & P" by 1900 was the largest biscuit manufacturer in the
World, employing over 5,000 people and producing more than 400
different varieties of biscuits.
