Comments: A handsome tin with
the pride of the U.S. Navy featured on the lid and sides. The ships
illustrated are "U.S.S. Idaho", "West Virginia",
"U.S.S. Arizona", "U.S.S. Lexington", "U.S.S. Chicago",
"U.S.S. Raleigh", "U.S.S. Guam", "U.S.S. Narwal"
and "U.S.S. Dunlap".
The "U.S.S. Chicago" was sunk in 1943, "U.S.S. Arizona"
at Pearl Harbor 1941, "U.S.S. Lexington" in 1942 and
"U.S.S. West Virginia" at Pearl Harbor.
Although the "U.S.S. West Virginia" was sunk on the 7th
December 1941, it was subsequently refloated, repaired and
remodernised. The "Wee Vee" went on to take part in further
campaigns including the "Battle of Leyte" 1944,"Battle of
Leyte Gulf" 1944, "Iwo Jima" 1945 and the "Battle of
Okinawa" 1945. The ship earned five battle stars, even though
she missed most of WWII after being sunk at Pearl Harbor.
