Comments: Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish writer and poet who was successful all around the world during his own lifetime. This tin features two of his famous novels "Waverley" (1814) and "Ivanhoe" (1819). The former is often considered as the first historical novel and is set during the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 which tried to restore the Stuart dynasty and the tin shows "Bonnie Prince Charlie" also known as Charles Edward Stuart. The latter is set in twelfth century England and tells the story of one of the remaining noble Saxon families during a period of history when the Normans were in the majority. It also gives the shape to the character of "Robin Hood" (Locksley) as we know him today and some insight into the struggle of the Jews in England at this time.
