Comments: A nice paper labeled biscuit tin from "Peek Frean", in very good condition with all the paper covering intact. The style of decoration on the label looks to be from a much earlier period than 1936, but it states "To the late King George V" who died on the 20th January 1936.
His doctor, "Lord Dawson of Penn", gave him a lethal injection of cocaine and morphine to hasten his death. This was to prevent further strain on his family and also to allow his death to be announced in the morning edition of "The Times", which was considered to be a more fitting tribute than it appearing in an evening newspaper!
