Comments: The first flight from Amsterdam to Batavia; Jakarta, Indonesia, took place on the 1st October 1924 and it arrived in the Dutch East Indies on the 25th November. The plane used was a "Fokker F.VII" with the registration "H-NACC". It was the longest airline route in the 1920's and 1930's, becoming a regular "KLM" flight in September 1929 and it took place twice weekly with the flight lasting 5 and 1/2 days!
This large candy tin commemorates the historical event, the lid shows the plane taking off from the Schiphol airport in Holland with a large crowd watching dressed in heavy winter coats, the two side panels show the plane on the ground in Bulgaria and the front and back panels show the plane on the ground after reaching its final destination in Batavia surrounded by a small crowd of white folk in their all white lightweight tropical clothes.
