Comments:
This rare early biscuit tin has a nicely detailed winter scene on
the lid of warmly dressed people attending a country church on a
cold, snowy Sunday. The corners of the tin have small vignettes
of snowy rural scenes, the sides of the tin bear Queen Victoria's royal coats of arms and
the ends have the intertwined initials of "H & P".
All the images are bordered with holly with lots of bright red
berries, ivy and icicles. It is marked "B & M Pat", as "H &
P" was the only firm legally entitled to print using the Bryant &
May process from 1875 till 1889, when the patent ran out.
The tin is in very good condition, however there is an arcing light
mark on the hinged lid on the left.
