Comments: This unusual tin
features the "White Cliffs of Dover", a stretch of the
British coastline facing continental Europe with great symbolic
importance to the British people. The white chalk cliffs are
situated at the narrowest point of the English Channel in Kent
opposite France. There are miles of hidden tunnels behind the cliff
face, first created in the "Middle Ages", they played a
defensive role during the "Napoleonic Wars" and later they
proved useful again during the "Second World War".
As "Dame Vera Lynn" (born 1917), from my old home town of
East Ham famously sang "(There'll be bluebirds over) The White
Cliffs of Dover".
