| Comments: This lovely tin
chronicles the life of "The Village Blacksmith" and was
manufactured around 1890. The front panel is titled "You can hear
him swing his heavy sledge with measured beat and slow", the
back "He goes on Sunday to the church", the lid "Under the
spreading chestnut tree the village smithy stands", one side
"Something attempted something done has earned a nights repose"
and the other side "Children coming home from school look in at
the open door". This transfer printed tin is in good condition
with some craquelure commensurate with its age.
