| Comments: This tin was made by
"Rowntree's" in 1914 and originally had chocolate in the top
hinged compartment and six postcards in the bottom sliding
section. It was sent to the troops serving in the trenches during
"The Great War" and had a patriotic image of George V
lithographed on the lid.. The tin could later be used to store
things in like tobacco or cigarettes and has a striker on the bottom
to light non safety matches. There are numerous variations of this
tin and some have 1914 or 1915 printed on them.
