Comments: "Persimmon" was ridden in 1896 by "Jack Watts"; wearing the royal colours, and he beat "St.Frusquin" by a neck to win the "Derby" at Ascot for his owner the "Prince of Wales", soon to be "King Edward VII". The king had two further "Derby" winners "Diamond Jubilee" in 1900 and "Minoru" in 1909.
