biscuit in the form a simulated pigskin handbag was very popular as
it very closely resembled the real thing. "Huntley and Palmer"
produced a total of 85,000 sold worldwide. The company name and
address is embossed on the bottom of the tin. A lot of different
tins in the form of purses were issued by the biscuit companies and
these came in many realistic finishes, such as snakeskin, leather,
basketwork and ivory. The vast majority were manufactured from 1900
to 1914.
