Comments: "Huntley and
Palmer" made three tins in this form, however each one had different
decoration. This tin "Canteen" was manufactured by
"Huntley, Boorne and Stevens" in 1901 and was embossed to simulate
woven rush work and 70,000 were made. It has a printed thick
cardboard handle; which is very frequently missing or broken, and a
patent double locking catch. This is the rarest one of the trio to
find. The shopkeeper paid "H&P" 10/6 a dozen for this tin in
1901, about 4 pence each or 8 US cents each.
