is a term for a recurring visual picture and was coined by Nico
Scheepmaker in the late 1970's. The "Droste" chocolate box
features a nurse carrying the self same box as she is featured on,
this smaller image shows another nurse carrying another box and so
on forever or for so long as resolution allows.
