Comments and other images: The "Normandie"
was the largest ship of it's period, launched in 1932 and having her
maiden voyage in 1935, with a gross tonnage just over 83,000. The
French Lines' ship had the ultimate design and decoration of the
time and was considered by many to be the ultimate ocean liner. She
gained the Blue Ribbon for her record crossings of the Atlantic, but
her career was finished by the commencement of the war. She was
mothballed in New York harbor, where she caught alight, then sunk,
was re-floated and then scrapped!
This was made to hold the biscuits of a French company of "Geslot Voreux".
A great biscuit tin in very good condition, a few very minor
imperfections visible on the deck.To view other images
