Comments:   The picture is of the Civil War monument in New Philadelphia Ohio and was taken by a local photographer Phillip Strickmaker; died 1st September 1916. It was built with a bequest from Major Henry Kaldenbaugh, who served in the 51st Infantry division in the war to honour the GAR (Union) soldiers. It was built in the courtyard of the Tuscarawas County Courthouse and unveiled on the 19th May 1887. The foxing of the photo is not so dark as these pictures show and the top left margin has a cannon device printed on it.
