Joseph" was born in Vienna in 1830, he became the Austrian
Emperor, King of Hungary and Bohemia in 1848 and he died in 1916. He
reigned for 68 years, the third longest in Europe and the longest
serving German speaking monarch. He died in the middle of "The
Great War" aged 86 and after their defeat, the Austro- Hungarian
Monarchy was dissolved back into national states. This unusual enamel mug
celebrates fifty years of his reign in 1898 and it is in very good
