| Comments: The cup and
saucer was made by "Grindley" of England around 1955, and was
from their "Duraline" hotelware range. The china is a honey
glaze ivory colour with a two colour brown printing. "J. S. Fry's
& Sons" is a very old British company, the founder Dr. Joseph
Fry; a Quaker physician, founded the company in 1728 in Bristol and
first started making chocolate in 1759. They made their first
moulded chocolate bar for retail sale in 1847, followed by such
favourites as" Fry's chocolate cream", "Five boys chocolate",
"Crunchie" and "Fry's Turkish Delight" The company merged with
