images: This is a great example of
high quality printing, looking in
appearance like a wooden framed
picture, made from one piece of metal by
"De Andreis". The French phrase at the
top translates as "I only smoke Le
Nil", which is the brand name of the
cigarette papers that it advertises .
This North African Arab scene was very
popular in European advertising at the
turn of the century, particularly with
reference to smoking. In the bottom left
of the picture you can see a sample
packet of the papers and to the right of
the girl's feet is the artist's name Rumolo Tessazi.
