| Comments: This
is an unusual item from the "Wade" range
of ceramics that they manufactured for
"BOAC" around 1960. It appears to be a
peanut bowl, the more common items
include ashtrays, a tankard and a water
jug. The inside of the bowl features the
company's "Speedbird" logo.
"British
Overseas Airways Corporation" was formed
in 1939 and became the state airline;
taking over from "Imperial Airways" and
"British Airways Ltd". It operated
through the Second World War, into the
jet age and finishing in 1974 just
before the introduction of "Concorde".
The company merged with "BEA" to become
"British Airways".
