| Comments: "Bassett's"
was founded in 1842 by George Bassett and the company was based in
Sheffield, in Yorkshire. "Liquorice Allsorts" were discovered
by accident around 1900, when one of the sales people knocked over
his tray of samples and mixed up the sweets. In 1929 they introduced
their well known character representing the company, "Bertie
